Things we say to our kids.

Naomi has been my shadow lately. When I say shadow I mean she is attached to me at the hip. I have gotten into the habit of locking the bedroom and the bathroom door because she will walk right in like she should be there. She emptys the dishwasher with me and folds the laundry and she even will get down on the bathroom floor with a babywipe if I am in there tidying up or something. Anyway you can get the picture I am sure. Today after she "fixed" my hair for the third time I found myself saying
"Child, would you just walk away from me for a few minutes." So she walked away, and I felt my heart go with her. What I should have realized was that in just a short time she will be walking away and I will be the one that wants her to come back. Baby Blues this week has had the same theme. The days are long but the years are short. The years around here are really going by fast and I know I will look back on these time and remember the special moments.

There is one thing I know for sure I will not miss-----I can not wait untill the fanny I have to wipe is my own!

MickyDee's or Mac and Cheese?

Well its about 3:15 here. I just finished a 5 page paper for my ethics class which took all day and is the reason the house is trashed. I have class tonight at around 7 and I need to return a movie to Blockbuster. As it happens tonight is also free happymeal night with the purchase of a value meal at the golden archs. Ronald, its you, me and the three tonight!

Lunch Dates Rock!

Today Aaron and I went on a lunch date. We got a babysitter for the kids and went to this newish Thai restaurant. Usually this place is a super expensive fish and chips place but this winter they rented it out to a somewhat expensive Thai place.
I got fried noodles with chicken and Aaron got Pad Thai (I think that is what it was called.)
We also spent a whole hour at Wal-Mart. Talk about a fun date! Walking around Wal-Mart and lunch.

Ages 4-6

We had a great first day of Spring Break. It was nice and sunny so we went to the park to play. We had a little bit of a scary moment when Caleb lost his show behind the skateboard ramp he had been playing on. Thank goodness I was able to reach it and Caleb didn't have to come home shoe less.
I had some pretty strict rules this week about Spring Break.
1. There will be only 1 hour of video games a day. (I know I am the worst mom in the world.)
2. Each boy had to work on school work each day.(Even better.)

The work sheets would be easy because I have a lot of "good intentions" workbooks in the closet.
So Eli was going to work on subtraction with borrowing and Caleb needed to practice writting his name "the school way" This means only the first letter could be a capital letter and the others had to be lower case.

I wrote it the first time and he wrote the other two times. Not bad huh?

Then we got out one of the other books he has which is just a fun activity book really with dot to dots and those kinds of things. There was this squrell puzzle.

This book is supposed to be for 4-6 year olds and it was really kicking my butt! So after trying for another 10 minutes or so.........I totally looked up the answer in the back of the book.

Now, I can't get blogger to let me post the finished picture! I will try to get it up later when blogger likes me again.

We Can't Wait Until Spring Break

I don't really know why they call it Spring Break here in Alaska because if you go anywhere in the state it certainly is not spring. That being said the boys began "Spring Break" on Thursday. We have actually had some pretty sunny days. Friday we went to Mill Bay beach and enjoyed the outdoors a bit.

I have a hard time getting all three kids to look at the camera at the same time. No one really wanted to stop running long enough to take pictures anyway. They had some energy to burn.

Caleb says he has found a fossil!

We stood in the cleft of the rock. This "rock" is huge and it has a cleft you could see worn right through the middle. I even enjoy standing in it.
Saturday we went to the Easter Egg Scramble at the base and saw the Easter bunny.

The Egg Scramble did not take very long so afterwards we went to the bowling alley.

Thats how we started "Spring Break" The kids and I will try and keep busy this week and hope we can outdoors some more! Even if it isn't spring exactly we plan to enjoy a little down time and have some fun.

We are here but its been a rough few weeks

Everyone around here has been feeling sick and now finally healthy again. I had a mid-term due for one of my classes and I really need to spend some time working on three 5 page papers for my ethics class. This being the case anytime I am on the computer I am usually doing school work. As everyone knows we changed the clocks this week. I sort of regret this time of year "losing" that extra hour of sleep just sets me back. The benefit is the daylight-of course it was just beginning to be lighter in the morning-the kids and I were actually waiting for the bus in the daylight. The time change made it dark in the morning again but lighter for much longer in the evening. Hmmm-I think lighter in the morning!

Birds and the Bee's according to a 3 year old

Well, I was alone this weekend with Caleb and Naomi. Aaron went to Anchor town for his National Guard weekend and took Eli with him. Caleb went in November so this was Eli's turn to spend a spoiled weekend with Grandma-Grandma.
Anyway, I was busy in the kitchen fixing lunch for Caleb and Peach. Peach had used the bathroom and came out---well, in her birthday suit to inform me that she had infact used the potty. Caleb who has always been curious about the diffence between boys and girls and although we often don't allow them see each other without at least their underpants on as many of you probably know-it just happens!
Caleb begins to inform Peach that she does not have a pee, pee. She starts the argument "yes I do." I broke in and quickly informed Caleb of the diffrence. "You know Caleb boys and girls look diffrent. Boys have a p- and girls have a v- and thats just the way God made us." I didn't want to go into any details but I was really tired of the conversation and just wanted to move on.
As I was talking I began walking Peach back to the bathroom to get her clothes and Caleb followed us. His response "So your saying boys have p-" and before he good get the words out Peach jumps in with her response--
